References from visiting the Church History Library

There is an illustrated guide to the Mississippi, written in 1847 by Henry Lewis, that describes what Nauvoo looked like at that time.

There is a Historical encyclopedia of Hancock Co., edited by Charles J. Scofield, that seems to be difficult to obtain, but BYU has a copy.

There is a history of Illinois written by Governor Thomas Ford (volume 1, volume 2) and mention in Bruce Flander's Nauvoo: Kingdom on the Mississippi from 1965.

Finally, the Nauvoo Wasp is now available from Greg Kofford publishing.
